We are really excited to be launching ‘The Big Week’ at Barrow Baptist Church for summer 2019. We hope you can join us during the week, whether that’s popping into the cafe for a drink or coming along to some of our events.

Cafe

Come and spend some time in our cafe every weekday between 10:00-13:30

There will be a range of refreshments including hot & cold drinks,
cakes, light bites and lunches. If the weather is good, there will
be outdoor seating, as well as a range of garden games.

Why not take some time out and grab a cuppa!

Games

Saturday night is games night!

There will be a range of activities including board, console, strategy, active, family and retro games.

Whether you want to come for a competitive game of monopoly, re-live the 2000’s on the N64 or have a quick game of table tennis. We hope there is something for you. Feel free to come down anytime, there will be drinks and snacks available throughout.

Children

There is lots for children to get involved in during The Big Week,
whether that’s coming along to the cafe, joining the celebration on Sunday or,
the games night, for older ones.

There will also be three events aimed at primary and pre-school children to come to with their adult. Suggested donation £2.

Messtival

A morning of crafts and activities centred around a summer festival theme.
There will be a wide range for all to get involved.

Summer Buds & Sparks

Wednesday morning is another opportunity to come together for games and activities,
including a quieter corner for the smallest in the family.

Who Let The Dads Out

WLTDO is one of our regular groups making an appearance during The Big Week.
It is a great opportunity for Dads, Grandads and other father figures to come and play with their children for the morning and get to know other dads.
One of the highlights is also the bacon butties we have mid-morning!

Seniors

The Big Week incorporates our annual summer activities for seniors, previously ‘Holiday at Home’.
We have three afternoons of activities planned, why not come along to the cafe for lunch
and stay for the afternoon session.
There will also be refreshments served during each event.

Tickets £1 for Tuesday, £2 for Thursday and Friday.

Charnwood Villages Through Time

Our first event is a film that shows some of the surrounding area’s history.
Whether you have lived locally for all your life or only recently, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Music Afternoon

Join us for a musical afternoon of well-known and popular songs.
If you feel the need to dance then just go with it!

Thursday 15th August 14:00-15:30

Games & Crafts

Our finale is an afternoon with a wide range of activities.
This includes: table tennis, pool, darts, carpet bowls, knitting,
sewing, hand massage, nail painting, quizzes, jigsaws and more.
Come along and join in the fun.

Men

Thursday evening is quiz and curry time.

Join us for a relaxed evening
with a little competition thrown in!
No need to come with a team, just turn up,
enjoy some food and a chance to
spend time with others.
£5 per head.
Feel free to bring your own bottle.

Women

Ladies, we have a couple of things that you can get involved in.
For those who are feeling more active, join us for a cycle on Monday evening.

There will be two rides to choose from, one shorter / slower and one longer / faster,
so you can join in even if you’re not a regular cyclist!

For everyone else, we will be meeting at the Moorings for a drink
and a chance to catch up and get to know one another better.
The cyclists will be joining us there at 8pm, but some of us will be meeting there from 7:30pm.

Monday 12th August 18:00 at church for those cycling, then from 19:30 at the Moorings

Youth

On Wednesday afternoon we will be going out for a social,
details to be confirmed, so watch this space!

In the evening we will come back for food
and to enjoy some fun and games.

Walk

It’s good to get out with others and we are organising two walks on Thursday morning.
There will be options for different capabilities, so you can join in even if you’re not a regular walker.

The walks will start and end at the church and you will then have the opportunity
to grab some lunch and a drink at the cafe afterwards

Sunday Celebration

At the end of the week we are going to get together for a celebration.

There will be a short service at 11:00 followed by a hog roast for all the family (dietary alternatives will be available). Hog Roast £3 per person.
